"Face to face, and frowning brow to brow."
On September 12th, a famous politician wrote these words:
I'm sure that many current "hawks" or so-called "neo-cons" come to mind, and they would be good guesses but incorrect.
The politician was actually...
Winston Churchill (!)
And he wrote these words on September 12th ...
... 1897 !!!

As you might guess, I'm greatly enjoying this fascinating biography during my time away.
Civilisation is face to face with militant [Islamism]...there need be no fear of the ultimate issue, but the longer the policy of half measures is adhered to the more distant the end of the struggle will be.Who do you think that politician was?

Willy,
Welcome back!
I don't know if you've read William Manchester's two part bio of Churchill but those books are marvelous. Manchester planned to write three volumes but he never published part 3 which was to cover WWII (post 1938) and the remainder of Churchill's life. That has always been a great disappointment to me that he was unwilling or unable to complete that last book.
hey willy... hope everything that needed fixin' got fixed ok, and that the senorita is on the mend.
missing your posts dude. tell her the nook said to get better fast, pronto, toot sweet.
